Who We Are

The Driftless Writing Center, Inc., is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization based in Viroqua, WI, that provides literary and educational opportunities, readings and discussions, writing classes and workshops, and an outlet for the presentation of original writing by area writers.

Anyone who supports the literary arts can participate, and we operate in a spirit of cooperation and recognize that each individual's contribution is valuable. We endeavor to create a supportive and noncompetitive environment while celebrating excellence in writing.

Mission and Vision

The Driftless Writing Center, Inc. provides literary and educational opportunities, readings and discussions, writing classes and workshops, and an outlet for presentation of original writing by its members and the community at large.

History

The Driftless Writing Center was established in 2010 as an umbrella organization for a variety of literary events centered in Vernon and Crawford Counties including the monthly First Friday poetry readings and the Driftless Writers Workshop. The goals were to provide outlets for creative expression and support for the art and craft of creative writing. Since its inception, DWC has brought acclaimed authors to the area to stage readings and workshops, including three poets laureate of Wisconsin, a poet laureate of Madison, and the author of the 2016 Wisconsin Center for the Book's Book of the Year.

Board of Directors

The Driftless Writing Center applauds the work of kindred organizations such as Mississippi Valley Writers Guild,
