It's not too early to think about what 2018 might bring. We invite you to Start the New Year Writing!
Join Driftless Writing Center instructors Tamara Dean and Jennifer Morales for this six-week writing workshop that will help you face the blank page and generate new material with ease.
We’ll explore several approaches to creative writing that help writers bypass their internal censors and access the infinite wells of content we all possess. We’ll spend much of our time writing—in frequent, short bursts and occasional, longer stretches. Instructors will provide writing prompts and inspirational examples from established writers We’ll share our struggles with first-drafting, and we’ll share our work aloud, if we choose. (Participants are encouraged to read aloud, as doing so can invite bolder advances from the muse, but this is optional.) We'll also discuss how to make writing a daily habit.
Anyone interested in working on fiction, nonfiction, or hybrid forms is welcome. This workshop will benefit all writers, from those who have never written to those who write regularly and want to increase their output or reach new depths.
When: Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., January 9 - February 13, 2018
Where: In the center of Viroqua (location details will be shared with those who register)
Maximum of 15 participants
Note: This workshop is the first in a series of three prose-writing courses scheduled for 2018. Those who sign up for the first workshop will receive a discount on subsequent workshops, in which we'll explore how to critique and revise our own work.
