Nature Writing Workshop with Kevin Koch, June 16th!

May 15, 2018

Nature Writing: Discovering Your Personal Landscape blends recollective memory exercises, on-the-spot composing, and advice on writing style to enhance participants’ ability to describe the places important to them. After cultivating place-based writing from the ground upward, the half-day workshop culminates in a “workshop” during which participants are invited to share their work and offer constructive feedback.

Instructor: Kevin Koch
Kevin Koch, Ph.D., teaches Creative Nonfiction in the English Department at Loras College. He is author of Skiing at Midnight: A Nature Journal from Dubuque County, Iowa and The Driftless Land: Spirit of Place in the Upper Mississippi Valley, as well as nature-based articles and essays that have appeared in magazines and newspapers throughout the Midwest. When not teaching or writing, he can most frequently be found bicycling, hiking, or kayaking in the Driftless Region.

When: Saturday, June 16, 2018, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Where: Kickapoo Valley Reserve, La Farge, WI

Maximum enrollment: 15

Fee: $50

Registration is required and cancellation fees apply. DWC will provide coffee, soda, and water; participants are asked to bring a pen and notebook (or laptop, if that's their preferred writing tool) and pack their own lunch.
