Overhaul: An Intensive Revision Weekend for Writers
July 12-14, 2019
You wrote it and it’s in a drawer. It might be the best thing you’ve ever written, but often it feels like the worst. It confuses you, inspires you, and occasionally fills you with despair. Still, it keeps calling you.
If you have a manuscript (or partial manuscript) like that, one that you need to overhaul but just can’t seem to begin, join the Driftless Writing Center for an intensive weekend that will kickstart your revision process. Revising a long manuscript is daunting, but a supportive community of writers and the guidance of an expert editor can help. A sense of humor is nice, too.
During this weekend intensive, group and individual work sessions will help you address the barriers that are keeping you from digging into your manuscript, remember what you love about it, and discover fresh places and new ways to start revising. You’ll revise and get feedback from your peers and instructor, and leave with a solid work plan for revising the rest of the text. We will maintain an online community after the weekend intensive to help you stay on track.
When: Friday (July 12) from 6 pm to 9 pm
Saturday (July 13) from 10 am to 4 pm
Sunday (July 14) from 10 am to 4 pm
Where: The Ark, 401 E. Jefferson St., Viroqua, Wisconsin
Cost: $250 (please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about scholarship or barter opportunities)
